If you’re in need of more care or support than is included in our basic services, supplementary services are available to you, at additional cost. Examples of supplementary care include:
Complex medication administration and testing (insulin testing, etc.)

• Assistance bathing, in resident’s shower or in hydrotherapy tub
• Assistance with toileting and incontinence management
• Meal time assistance
• Escort to meals and activities
• Evening tuck-in
• Assistance with dressing and grooming

Grand Pines conducts a Personal Needs Assessment of each resident, to determine their support needs. Our staff will meet with the resident and his or her family or representative following an assessment to discuss the assessment, review any cost or rate changes, and develop an individualized service plan.

Assessment factors include mobility, cognition, continence, and daily living activities. Assessments are made before move-in, 30 days after move-in, and quarterly (at minimum). Additional assessments may occur after acute episodes such as hospitalization, serious illness, or injury.

Grand Pines provides the following services, included in our monthly fee, to ensure the happiness and well-being of each of our residents. Our staff is available at all times to assist residents with any personal needs, planned or unplanned.

Meals & Snacks
Our meals are home-cooked and nutritious! Everyday, three meals are served in the dining room, though residents may choose to dine in their rooms, for an extra charge.
Breakfast, hot and made to order, is available between 7 and 9 a.m.; late risers can nosh on cold breakfast items after 9 a.m. Lunch, the primary meal of the day, is served at noon. Supper, comprised of lighter fare, is held from 5 p.m.–6 p.m. Friends and family are also welcome to join residents for meals, any time, for a small fee.

We have homemade baked goods, fresh fruit, sandwiches, ice cream, and a variety of hot and cold beverages for snacking, all day, everyday!

Medication Assistance
Medication assistance, including opening medication containers, reminding you to take your medication, or administering medicine, is available 24 hours per day, seven days per week, and is supervised by a registered nurse.

Wellness Checks & Mail Service
We take time to talk with our residents everyday to see how they’re doing, as well as deliver mail and newspapers.

Maintenance
Grand Pines’s maintenance staff is available to perform necessary maintenance tasks which range from the mundane (changing light bulbs, hanging photographs, touching up paint) to more serious maintenance issues.

Housekeeping
Our housekeepers treat residents’ apartments and property with respect and delicacy. Our housekeeping activities follow this schedule:

Dust and vacuum apartment
Wash personal laundry

The Terrace, Grand Pines’ specialized memory care unit, is devoted to meeting the needs of residents with memory impairments such as Alzheimer’s disease and dementia. The Terrace’s staff is specially trained to work with individuals experiencing memory impairment and to understand the struggles and challenges these individuals face.

The Terrace provides residents with an altered environment that makes fewer demands on memory and failing skills, resulting in reduced stress, anxiety, and confusion; improved daily functioning; and an improved quality of life for the resident.

The Terrace’s support services include:

• Care planning that is person-centered, rather than focused on the disease or lost skills
• Maintaining daily routines
• Guiding social interaction with peers, staff, and visitors
• Supporting family caregivers
• Encouraging physical activity such as walking, dancing, and seated exercises
• Assisting during meal time
• Dressing, grooming, and bathing assistance
• Assisting with toileting and incontinence
